1. What is Dominoes?

Domino is a tile-based game for 2 to 4 players. Each tile (called a domino) has two ends, each marked with a number of spots (pips) from 0 to 6 in a standard set. The game is played by matching tiles end-to-end based on the number of pips.

2. What is the Objective of Dominoes?

The main goal is to be the first player to get rid of all your domino tiles and score points based on the remaining tiles in your opponents’ hands.

3. How Do You Set Up a Game of Dominoes?

  • Use a standard double-six set (28 tiles) or other variants (e.g., double-nine, double-twelve).
  • Each player draws 7 tiles (in 2-player) or 5 tiles (in 3–4 players).
  • The remaining tiles are placed face down as the “boneyard” (draw pile).

4. How Do You Play Dominoes?

  1. The player with the highest double starts (e.g., double-six).
  2. Players take turns placing a tile that matches one open end of the domino chain.
  3. If a player cannot move, they must draw from the boneyard (draw variant) or pass (block variant).
  4. Play continues clockwise until someone plays all their tiles or no one can move.

5. How is Scoring Done in Dominoes?

Scoring depends on the variant:

  • Block Game: Winner scores the total number of pips left in opponents’ hands.
  • Draw Game: Same as block, but players draw when stuck.
  • Point Games (e.g., Muggins, All Fives): Points are scored during play by making open ends add up to multiples of 5.

6. How Do You Win a Game of Dominoes?

There are two common winning conditions:

  • A player plays all their dominoes.
  • No one can make a move, and the lowest pip total wins.

In point games, play continues over multiple rounds until a player reaches a target score (e.g., 100 or 150 points).
