1. What is Ludo?

Ludo is a classic board game for 2 to 4 players, based on the ancient Indian game Pachisi. Each player has four tokens that they must race around the board and move into the center “home” area by rolling a die.

2. What is the Objective of Ludo?

The goal of Ludo is to be the first player to move all four of your tokens from your starting area to your home column and finally into the center home space.

3. How Do You Set Up a Ludo Game?

  • Each player chooses a color: Red, Green, Yellow, or Blue.
  • Place the board on a flat surface.
  • Each player places their 4 tokens in their respective starting corner (yard).
  • Use a single six-sided die to determine movement.

4. How Do You Play Ludo?

  1. Players take turns clockwise, rolling the die once per turn.
  2. To move a token out of the starting yard, a player must roll a 6.
  3. Rolling a 6 gives another turn.
  4. Tokens move along the path based on the number rolled.

5. What Are the Movement Rules in Ludo?

  • Only a roll of 6 can bring a token out of the yard to the starting square.
  • Players may move any of their active tokens on the board according to the roll.
  • Tokens cannot share a square with tokens of the same color (except in home column).
  • If a player cannot make a legal move, their turn ends.

6. How Does Capturing Work in Ludo?

If your token lands on a square occupied by an opponent’s token, the opponent’s token is sent back to its yard. The capturing player earns an extra turn. Safe squares (usually marked) cannot be captured.

7. How Do You Win in Ludo?

A player wins when all four of their tokens reach the central home triangle after completing the full board loop and entering the home column. The game can continue to determine second, third, and fourth places.

8. Common Questions About Ludo

Can you block opponents in Ludo?
